Guest Speaker: Mick Cornett, former mayor and broadcast journalist


“Mayor Mick” served as Oklahoma City’s mayor from 2004 to 2018, making him Oklahoma City’s longest serving mayor and the first to win four elections. His major accomplishments include helping secure Oklahoma City’s first major league sports team, the Oklahoma City Thunder, and the passage of MAPS 3, a $777 million quality-of-life infrastructure program to continue the city’s transformation. Cornett also implemented health and wellness initiatives for OKC that gained national attention.

Working in television for 20 years as a sportscaster and later as a news anchor, Mick started his own video productions company, Mick Cornett Video Productions, in 1999. He released his first film, “Oklahoma City: The Boom, the Bust and the Bomb,” in 2016 which explores how Oklahoma City’s turbulent past helped shape its bright, flourishing future. In 2018 he released his first book, "The Next American City," which looks at how American cities are reinventing themselves and redirecting the future of the nation by way of civic engagement, inventive public policy and smart urban design.

Meet your Board of Directors Election Candidates

NOTICE:  The following three candidates are running for the three available terms on the Board of Directors. Elections will be held at WEOKIE Federal Credit Union's Annual Membership Meeting on  March 28, 2020 at 4:00 PM at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum.


leonard-wellsLeonard Wells  

Leonard Wells retired from Celestica after working in the accounting and auditing departments of both AT&T and Lucent . Leonard currently serves as a WEOKIE Board Member and has also served on WEOKIE's Supervisory Committee and on WEOKIE's Credit Committee from 1978-1985. Leonard holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the University of Central Oklahoma. In 2017, he began his second five-year term on the Board of Education for Yukon Public Schools. Leonard has served as past treasurer for the First United Methodist Church of Yukon and is currently an active member of Bethany First Church of the Nazarene.

Tony Carl served on WEOKIE's Supervisory Committee and as an Associate Director prior to being elected to WEOKIE's Board of Directors. Tony is currently employed as at American Fidelity in Oklahoma City as a Customer Engagement Manager. He previously held the position of Manager of Quality & Communications for the Customer Care Organization at the Hertz Corporation. Tony holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Oklahoma and a Master of Business Administration degree. Tony attends Bethel Baptist Church in Norman and also serves on the Recreation Committee. Tony enjoys family, sports and being with friends.




Dennis March

Dennis March retired from the United States Air Force with 21 years active duty service as a Security Forces Police Officer. Currently, he is employed at Tinker Air Force Base as a Department of Defense employee as a Security Manager. Dennis served on the Supervisory Committee prior to his appointment as an Associate Director and election as a Director. He has a Bachelor's degree from Southern Nazarene University in Organizational Leadership and an Associate's degree in Criminal Justice from the Community College of the Air Force. Dennis is a Deacon at Town and Country Christian Church in Yukon.
