The WEOKIE Foundation
MONEY TALKS Financial Education program for youth The WEOKIE Credit Union Foundation has developed a no-cost Money Talks Financial Education program designed to teach youth how to manage their money wisely. The financial literacy program focuses on classroom lessons, presentations and seminars in grades 2-12 to help students understand financial responsibilities and encourage them to make smart decisions as they become more financially accountable. WEOKIE's financial professionals visit the classroom to discuss areas that young adults must be knowledgeable about to handle money intelligently. Program topics and content are adjusted to be grade appropriate. Some of the areas that may be addressed are: basic money management skills, how to write a check and balance a checkbook, how to use ATM and Debit cards, saving for the future, understanding the different types of loans, managing credit and protecting credit rating, how to develop a budget, and other important financial information. |
"Thank you for coming to talk at our school. It was amusing and educating. It gave me the ambition to start saving a percentage of my paycheck. Thank you once again." Contact Nathan Gillen at nathang@weokie.org for more information or to schedule a classroom session. Please click here to view the Money Talks Brochure.
