Making A Difference

Since its formation in 2006, the WEOKIE Foundation has awarded more than $370,000 to worthy causes.

The goal of the Foundation is to promote WEOKIE Credit Union’s commitment to social responsibility and to educate the community so they are able to make sound financial choices. A 501(c)(3) public charity, the Foundation provides a formal avenue of philanthropic giving for WEOKIE Credit Union and offers financial education and scholarship opportunities to Oklahoma City and surrounding communities. The Foundation is governed by an appointed volunteer Board of Directors.

The Foundation is dedicated to providing support to the community and to charitable organizations that offer assistance to local citizens. The Foundation also offers financial education to Oklahoma City and surrounding communities through its Money Talks Financial Education program. Money Talks is an interactive program which focuses on classroom lessons, presentations and seminars in grades  2-12 to help students understand financial responsibilities and encourage them to make smart decisions as they become more financially accountable.

Since its launch in 2007, Money Talks has provided financial education to more than 14,000 students in the metro area.

The Foundation raises money through different fundraising efforts such as an annual golf tournament, candy bar sales, and donation canisters placed in the lobbies. WEOKIE employees and volunteers also contribute to the Foundation. The Foundation is proud to report 100% participation in employee contributions for both 2010 and 2011.
